The Mississippi Gulf Coast

The lovely Mississippi Gulf Coast is comprised of three coastal counties: Hancock County, Harrison County and Jackson County. Of the three coastal counties, Jackson County is home to the majority of the Smith Homes' properties.
Jackson County is 736 square miles, and is the eastern-most coastal county, bordered by Alabama to the east, Harrison County, MS to the west, and George County to the North. To the south lies the Gulf of Mexico.
Jackson County had four incorporated cities, a port and is home to the state's largest employer, Litton Industries, owner of Ingalls Shipbuilding. There is an abundance of rivers, bayous and wetlands with none of the casino industry located in the other two coastal counties.
Jackson County was discovered in 1699 by French explorer Pierre LeMoyne d'Iberville and was named for President Andrew Jackson.
